Sooke Park Watch

"Thieves Beware. ParkWatch Patrol is here."

The JDF Regional ParkWatch Society is a local registered Non-Profit Society with Charitable status. ParkWatch provides a summer Security patrol.

We are in the parks from May to September providing the necessary service of parking lot security for our local parks. Our presence brings a level of comfort to local people and tourists who wish to enjoy our parks.

Park Watch kicks off safety fund-raising drive

Park Watch Patrollers are getting ready for the tenth consecutive season of providing much-needed security in our region’s parks and supplying many thousands of park visitors with a wide range of local information. Read more about it!

According to a recent Summer Visitor Survey conducted for BC Parks, safety ranked fourth as a consideration of tourists when planning visits. Park Watch has reduced the incidence of theft and vandalism in parks with coverage by as much as 100% during the summer operational months.

As well as peace of mind, Patrollers offer valuable maps and information to Tourists and day-trippers from Victoria that can maximize their West Coast experience. We are knowledgeable about the parks terrain, local attractions and accommodations. If you need more information about the Juan de Fuca Region and its parks, just ask a Patroller.

With the grants and donations received from our current sponsors, the support of the local business community through brochure advertising and public donations, ParkWatch can continue to protect local tourism with fully trained security personnel now and into the future.

ParkWatch covers the parking lots of the following locations: Matheson Lake, Aylard Farm, Pike Road, Roche Cove, Sooke Potholes, French Beach, China Beach, and Botanical Beach.

TOURISM VALUE
We are distributing a brochure containing safety information and business listings to the vehicles that visit the ParkWatch patrolled parks. Along with the A-frame signs, used to identify our patrollers, the brochure and map table display have proved very effective in initiating dialogue with the public. This communication plays an important role in making park users aware of the many attributes and fine businesses of our Region. Judging by the comments received by ParkWatch staff, tourists and local people alike are most grateful to have this information and our security program in place.
